Three for Tea

It is ALWAYS a good time for tea!

High tea is a special occasion where you get together with your friends or family to enjoy a pot of tea with delectable eats.

However, not everyone knows what to wear to tea. Play the part of a true lady, keep your outfit and overall look effortless, classic and elegant. Watch out for prints and bold metallic clothing pieces – these could make your look overstated and overdressed.

“Surely a pretty Woman never looks prettier than when making tea”

The Styling:

Keep it simplistic with the very in trend co-ordinate set. This is a very current trend where the top and a bottom are made from the same fabric to resemble a single outfit. This “Co-ord” has a slight cheeky side where it reveals a little bit of skin at the waist. Many ladies worry about this area being revealed but you will find the skirt sits high enough to cover any lumps or bumps and becomes incredibly flattering. I found this beautiful “Co-ord” at Forever New.

Continuing to keep it understated I have worn a long dainty necklace with a simple leather brown belt and a pair of Aldo pumps.

The classic look is continued into a simple black flared skirt with a buttoned up blouse. Kimmy is keeping it in trend with the blouse buttoned all the way up to the collar, using a leather necklace to accessorise.

The Epitome of effortlessness. Tarryn is wearing a mango straight cut dress with three-quarter sleeves. Paired with open toe sandals from Rubi. Absolutely loving the colour contrast between the shoes and the dress. A chunky necklace is the best accessory to add to a simple look.

Points to remember:

Can pants be worn to a high tea? – There is absolutely nothing wrong with wearing pants to a high tea. Try to keep the fabric, colour and styling of the pants to a soft or neutral colour with a feminine look. At the moment, pantsuits and playsuits are trending and can make ladies look incredibly feminine, as well as, playfull.

Are Jeans a No No? – I would personally say no to jeans, but if they are the tailored kind that hardly look like denim then there are no issues. If you are having high tea at a hotel or restaurant, keep in mind that some may not allow jeans.

Always base your outfit on the atmosphere – This is an easy way to plan your outfit.  You will know whether certain outfits would be appropriate or not.

Easiest outfits to wear? – An easy way to keep it effortless, pair skirts with embellished tees, blouses and/or sweater sets. Another goodie is to find a simple dress and accessorise.
